What is time management?
Good time management may be compared to going on a journey.
Ideally and hopefully you know your starting point and your destination and all the stops along the way and importantly, the purpose of starting the task (or journey) you’re taking.

Time management techniques
During coaching you can not only acquire new skills & practices but apply them there and then to your paper mountains and overflowing tasks to feel more in control of your time…and hence, your life. Coaching enables you to discover & discard your key misuses of time and create new patterns and positive practices.
Of crucial importance is how you begin your day. A well organised to do list, planned at the end of the previous day, will set you on track for a quick start and you will do and achieve so much more.
Work life balance
Time management coaching also helps you create that important yet elusive work-life balance.
In the words of George Bernard Shaw: “We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.“
Five tips
- Don’t delay: do the most important tasks first. Choose your priorities and remember that 20% of what you do produces 80% of success(Pareto’s Law). Are you doing the right 20%? Good time management means constantly taking decisions, that this is more of a priority than that.
- Beware of chaotic piles: put your papers away where they belong
- Avoid the battle of the bulge! For each new piece of paper, remove at least one
- Overwhelmed by a giant task? Divide it into tiny, manageable slices
- Don’t lose track: make a daily to-do-list, and follow it
"Thank you for all the kindness you have shown. I am determined to be organised and not procrastinate so that I can live a fuller & more productive, value-creating life"
London client
"Either you run the day or the day runs you"
Jim Rohn
In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take, relationships we were afraid to have and the decisions we waited too long to make. Don’t waste a single moment

What else gets in the way of Time Management?
Clutter
"Have nothing in your house you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful".
William Morris
Paper & other clutter may prevent you starting altogether on new tasks or distract you, causing you to butterfly from one thing to another. Make space for your thoughts and actions. Leave a clear desk, place and space at the end of each day to make a new start for the next. Allocate a regular slot in the week to clear out the old & make way for the new.
People and priorities
Sometimes people get in the way of managing time.
They interrupt or make demands, telling you everything is urgent!
They may not produce work on time and you have to chase them up.
If you’re homeworking or work in a hybrid way, both remotely and on site, you may feel you’re on call at all hours. This means being able to set boundaries and at times to say no.
Combine time management techniques with the skills of assertiveness if you are to manage your own priorities.
